What I would do is get a long piece of wood that usually works for my chickens smile

Here is a picture of the one I built, it is a 10 inch 1x2 and I attached 3/4 inch smooth wooden rods for traction, total cost was about 8 or 10 bucks.

I nailed short lengths of grape vine to an old fence board. The hens don't care what it looks like.

I used pr treated salvaged deck board.  I used table saw to rip 5" long pieces of the  pr treated stock into 1/2" thick x 1" wide pieces.  Then I used my pneumatic brad nailer to nail them on to the plank every 4".  I did two for inside and two for outside to service the two pop doors.  I coated the ones outside with old motor oil.  Makes them last longer, and soaks in quickly.   I did the stoop for the coop entrance the same way with the motor oil to preserve the wood better.  Mine do not ever use the ones inside.  They just hop up or down from their nests, which are at 24" ht.

In this picture, you can see that the chooks just hop up on the poop board (24" ht) to get to their roost (48" ht).  So it is likely that yours will not even need a walkboard inside
cool

I usually start with a hammer and nails with a piece of salvage lumber from somewhere. Maybe a saw too.

Just a old coot with some backyard chickens and a garden.
