Impeyan Pheasants

Tony
I took the year off last year from hatching and a friend of mine was going to hatch my peacock pheasant out for me and he did't hatch any I let the birds set on the last eggs and my palawan hen hatch 2 chicks when they were 3/4 grown I had a 2 legged varment that got in the pens and took one of the palawan and the grays chicks I hatched I ended up with a palawan hen that I going to keep. I have camares set up now to catch 2 legged varments.

Thats a big big bummer. Seems like they always kill the best,I went to electified fence on my big pen just for those reasons and gonna finish doing some more pens when I get a chance. Hope you hatch some this year. They are beautiful birds.

I have a friend here in Southern Oklahoma that raised Impeyan's for a while and every time his water misters would stop working he would loose some so if you want to spend $250.00 on a pair of birds that can die if it gets to hot go a head. Andy if you like pheasants that look like Peafowl get ya some of the Peacock Pheasants they are not as touchy as the Impeyan's and can handle the hot a little better. You will still need shade but not the misters.

There you have it Andy, You've seen my post (which I stick to BTW) And Chowtaw Valley Farms and DMFarms post. The choice is yours to make. Me and three of my friends didnt run misters. But had plenty of shade. But like Choctaw said if moneys the problem dont do it. Might be to risky for you. GBWF forum is a place to find them If you bite the bullet.
