Duck eye problem

Thank you for the replies. I did give him a week of antibiotics and steroid drops, as well as regularly washing his eyes out with saline. The "bubbles" have since dropped off and he seems to be able to see out of his left eye, but the right one still has a small white line of stuff stuck to it. I will keep you posted.

Just a suggestion when treating eyes never use any ointment or drops with steroids in it unless prescribed by a vet. An eye that has a scratched cornea can have serious damage if a steroid is used. I have been told that by 2 vets when prescribed med for both out cat and our horses eyes for an infection. Always use a nonsteroidal med. unless told differently by your vet.

Thank you FrenchBet for the information. I was not aware of that.

IveGoneQuacky, (love your name by the way!) I do not have an update on this issue because sadly, a predator got the little guy right out of our front yard. I have never had the problem again with any of my other ducks, but if I do, I will take them to the vet and update this thread with any info.

Thank you to everybody who helped out!
