I just have 44 babies chickens from Ideal Hatchery, as I am typing this message they are 4 days old, I noticed some of my babies had poop stuck on their bottom, It's really dry and I don;t know how to clean them

Please advice

thanks

Three different ways.

1. Run under warm water and clean off pooh as it gets wet.

2. Wet (not damp) washcloth on the pooh until it comes off.

3. Fill an old Tupperware container with warm water and put a washcloth in it. Dip rear end for a few seconds, wipe, and repeat until clean.

I like 3 the best, but they all work and it's a personal preference. Final step for all pat dry and return.

You can also put some olive oil, neosporine, or vaseline on the vent to help stop reoccurence.

All you need to do is pull it of gentle or if it want come off you may have to cut it of with some little scissors. Try to rum water over the poo so it can get softer. You can cut the feathers around the bottom so the poo want stick as bad. If this continues to happen you can put olive oil on its bottom and that will stop it, you can also but vasline on it so the poop want stick.

NO!!!!! Don't pull it! You can seriously injure the baby that way. Wash it off as the above post indicates! This needs to be considered urgent. They will die if they can't poop. Watch them closely as it tends to happen to the same ones over and over again until they grow out of it.

This is what I was told to do by one of the members after you wet it with water. And I know it is serious and I would never tell someone to do anything that I wouldnt do. I do that to my chicks and they are healthy and happy.

I like the idea of dunking the baby's bottom in water -- I've been using a wet washcloth which works but using a tupperware container sounds more efficient. I'm hoping that this will stop soon with the baby chicks -- only had one this morning that had the problem -- and the poop looks like it is getting firmer..yeaaaaa

I was just told that and they never were in any pain. I did only if I had to and that was little. The poo came fo easy with the water.

Thank you for all advice, before I wrote this message I was thinking cut with scissor, luckily I couldn't find the scissor then I remember this website, I think I better ask before do something and I regret later on
I will follow below advice:, it's looks very easy

I am really appreciate for all the advice, I lost all my chickens on December last year, wild dog and raccoons killed all my chicks, really broke my heart, now I rebuild the coop and got baby chicks, they are cute

I got 24 assorted heavy breed, 12 assorted Brahma and Cochin, 4 crested special, 2 long tail, 2 salmon and 10 silkies...
