Went out to do my morning thing in the coop. My amercauna was still on the roost which is unusual. She had a large loose poop with a very thick, clear slim all over it. I picked her up and found this in the fur right by her vent. The thing was not moving at all either. Last week I found evidence of round worm in a poop, and wormed them,(wasil). It looks like an enormous tape worm to me. What do ya;ll think. Appreciate the help.. as always

Here's a pic of poultry tapeworms, notice the segmentation. Yours appears to be a soft eggshell, I've had that happen as well. ETA: Large tapeworms are flat and segmented, ribbonlike.

I think its a soft egg shell after you wormed the chickens you need to give them a boost like yogurt mixed with dry cat food. the yogurt is good for the system and the cat food is a protein boost. plus the calcium from yogurt can't hurt with the eggs. good luck.

I am so sorry for your breakfast ,LOL. Thank ya'll for your quick response. I would never have thought it was a deformed soft egg, being that long, and having that head like thing like a snake. She just started layin about 2 weeks ago, and had some issues with getting bullied after she laid her first one. Since resolved. I will give her some cat food and get some yogurt. Should I expect her to pass another? Been 7-8 days since they got the wormer in the water. I was hoping to start collecting eggs again by Sunday.

Since she first started laying a couple of weeks ago, it takes a little bit of time for their reproductive organs to adjust to egg laying. Stress can cause malformed eggs as well. Provide your hens with crushed oyster shell, free choice. Give her time, she'll be laying you some nice eggs in no time at all.

Maybe or maybe not her system is still working things out. Make sure you offer oyster shell or crushed egg shells for extra calcium

Thanks again. They get oyster shell couple times a week. She had a few tough eggs as you said she may. Her first,(bless her heart, and bottom,LOL), was a huge,HUGE double yoker. She 2 regular eggs, got bullied up, and then in qaurentine, (becuase she got pecked bloody) she had another double. She has had a tough go. I am just so gratful she is not getting bullied any more. We put an apron on her for the back feathers, and then pinned a pc. of fabric from the tails of the apron around her vent area where she got beat up pretty bad. Amazingly, it worked great. She looks alittle funny, but works,LOL
