SkyHerd is simply a herd of wild horses that roams the prairie. They occasionally encounter two other herds, WindHerd, and FireHerd. The stallions are fierce and will do anything to protect their mares.

The lead stallion and mare MUST be mates.
Lead Stallion: Flip is a dun Arabian stallion, dark yellow with a black mane, tail, and feathers masking his brown, shod hooves. A white star brightens his scalloped forehead and a brown stripe traces his spine. He is quiet, thoughtful, yet has a surprising flair to his normally calm spirit when his control is called for. His pride in SkyHerd cannot be masked, and neither can his silent grieving at some unknown tragedy. Flip was originally the owner of a little girl, but when they had been together only a few years she died from leukemia. As he was being loaded into the horse trailer to be taken to a new home, he bolted for the woods and was not caught. After he found Silver, became her mate, and fathered Levi, he created SkyHerd and chose a few miles of quiet meadow for the herd to wander in. As he only narrowly escaped being gelded, Flip is very proud of his offspring and jumps at the chance to mate any mare who is willing. This also whets the flame in his spirit to kill any stallion who seems to intrude into his herd or steal his mares. A few stallions - he's more likely to accept his own sons, but he often lets others in the herd - are allowed in, but not many. - Dutchgirl
Lead Mare: Silver: She is a beautiful pearlescent white Leopard Appaloosa, with round spots of starkly contrasted black scattered across her body, each framed in a ring of gray. Most of her spots accumulate along her back and rump, and they are smaller, more scattered spots on her shoulders and chest. She has a naturally rippled mane of white, streaked with black and gray. None of her markings are symmetrical or uniform in nature, except for her black 'socks' that reach her fet-locks and ankles. Her tail is white at the very base, with the rest of it being a satiny, smooth black, and the hair is so long that it nearly touches the ground. Endearingly soft and tender eyes of icy blue look at you with genuine concern and care. She is a spirited, fun-loving, and enthusiastic individual, and she is also very empathic, and optimistic. She cares deeply for her herd, and treats it with the same motherly protectiveness as she would give to her child. Her parents escaped their filthy home to live in the forest, and her mother, Pearl, became impregned and birthed Silver in the wild. Nearly a year later, a hiker saw some feral horses in a field from nearby mountains and reined them before returning them back to their careless owners, but Silver was instructed by her mother to hide when the man came, so she was not taken with them because her mother thought that life in the wild would be better for her. She soon discovered Skyherd, where she then fell in love with Flip and they became the head pair of the herd. She still misses her parents today, but is thankful she was not captured and taken with her parents to the home that her mother spoke so badly of. -BirdNut

Viola a young, small Paint mare, pinto, white with reddish-brown splotches. She has a sweeping red mane and tail and a reddish nose. A typical teenage girl, shes just out of foalhood and has a fiery, sarcastic personality. Flirts with young, handsome stallions but despises Flip; shes willing to mate with the younger males, but she rejects and is rebellious toward Flip. Viola escaped from an abusive owner after being forced to breed too young. Her foal was sickly and died soon after birth this is one of the reasons she doesnt want to breed with Flip. Shadow, a Gypsy Vanner mare with black and white patches over her whole body, with a black mane, white tail, and white "feathers" around her hooves. She is very kind to other horses, sweet, and very giving. She is an ex-dressage horse, as her owner dumped her. A few weeks later she found the group of horses (in which now she lives.) Twilight is an Arabian, buckskin with a yellowish-gold body, pure black mane and tail, which are both very long. She bears black stockings that go about an inch above her fetlocks, a gray muzzle and ears, and inky black eyes. She was born into a wealthy, pure-bred Arabian family. Originally from Arabia, her owners traveled to America for dressage competitions. One night, after a very long day of traveling, while she was asleep, Twilight was stolen away and sold to an abusive owner, who only used her for useless things. After 2 years of living with her cruel master, she escaped and lived roaming in the wild for 3 months before finding SkyHerd. She is sweet, calm, quiet horse, yet she can and will defend herself and others when the time comes - although it doesn't look like should could, as she is so frail from being almost starved to death. Twilight is very thoughtful and comes and goes out of the SkyHerd meadow, but always sleeps with the herd. She enjoys being with the foals in the herd. She often wishes she had a special "someone" in her life, though doesn't show it. A light Arabian accent still lingers in her voice. Somewhat of a loner, she is still a mystery to SkyHerd. - chickendiva25
Dahlia - A beautiful show quality black Arabian mare who often holds her tail high. Though short tempered, she's considerate of other's feelings and generally friendly. Although, she isn't one who should have her buttons pushed. The mare lived at a rich, snooty stable with her mate, Bucephalus. She was often ridden western style and won plenty of blue ribbons, losing only three times. One day while grazing with her mate in an outdoor pasture a grass fire started and burnt down everything, including her paddock. A huge blaze hit a line of nearby trees and surronded the two. While she was spooking, Bucephalus offered that she jumped on top of him to escape, and he would figure somthing out for himself. Reluctantly, she did just that and left him there, hoping he could actually get out in time. She kissed him goodbye and fled to the prarie where she found the herd. -Zinnia-Hen
Dusty: A beautiful Plains zebra/Chestnut tobiano Gypsy vanner Zorse who is mostly white with patches of rich tawny along her back and one hindlimb, which contain stripes of black within them from her zebra lineage. Her hooves are ivory, with fetlocks that are faintly etched with black striping, which overlays her stockings of white. She has a smooth, velvety pelt, a short, bushy white mane, and a mask of rust with an elaborate labyrinth of stripes. Her endearingly innocent eyes are chocolate brown. The 'bangs' that hang down the side of her face have a wavy, rippled texture from frequent braiding.
Sienna is a tri-colored Gypsy Vanner mare. She is the responsible, loving, babysitter-type that loves foals and respects her elders. Sienna was born on a Gypsy Vanner farm. As a weanling, there was a fire at her home and everybody else died, but she she got away and is now wild. No family yet! - DuckyGurl

Stallions:
Ace is a clydesdale stallion, who grew up on a breeding farm, pulling carts with his mother and father, but after a cart accident he was able to free himself, and ran away to the SkyHerd. He is dark bay with white hocks, and black tail and mane. He is a very friendly stallion, but is very shy because he wasn't around other horses much. - DuckLover179
Rocket is a Belgian mix white horse with black hocks. He was born in the wild, but his parents dumped him. He is a very sweet horse, and dreams to have foals of his own. -DuckLover179

Foals:
Terry-Is a white and red Paint colt. He is white with red splotches along his back and sides, a red face with a white star. He is energetic but rather silent, opens up when he gets to know someone better. However, he prefers to bounce around and try to use actions to communicate instead of words. His parents are Phil and Hapila, who were captured and tamed by humans. So he is essentially an orphan. - ember.opal
Levi is a dapple gray colt, Arabian x Appaloosa. His mane and tail are a creamy-grayish-white color, as are his legs below the knees. He is shy and quiet and, as Flip says, "doesn't have all the stars in his sky". Edgy around other horses, especially foals and stallions, he avoids them at any cost, as he's used to being teased. Levi isn't all right in the head and isn't capable of comprehendable speech, often resorting to nonsense to communicate. His best word is "Leaf-i" - his name. He was born in SkyHerd, out of Ivy by Flip, and his brother and sister are Dappledsnow and Achillia. He is Flip's pride and joy, despite his disabilities. - BirdNut
Dappledsnow - an older colt, white with black spots along his back. Arabian x Appaloosa, he has a brown mane and tail streaked with white, and a black spot on his forehead. He is playful and brave, although being young, his personality is hard to determine. Out of Ivy and by Flip, he is Levi's brother and Achillia's twin. - Dutchgirl
Rosie: a blue roan Scottish Mining Pony filly. She is brown in the summer and winter and white in the spring and fall. Her head, mane, tail, and feet are brown year-round. She is a total snot, a little spoiled brat who acts like she's older and in charge -- absolutely adorable, too. Being so small and knobby-kneed, she makes everyone fall in love with her cuteness. She's a total diva, who thinks she's just as big as everyone else (or bigger). Because she was such a hassle to train, she is unridable and doesn't know how to pull a cart. Basically, her owners called her "Yard Candy". Then her ranch caught on fire and she found Skyherd. - FarmCoe

Lead Stallion: Dax - A brave ruler, strong in his herd. He is a large gray draft horse of mixed breeds. He does not fully trust any member of his herd, even his deputy. Dax firmly believes in communism. He has no lead mare, because he figures that all mares should be lowest in the herd.
Deputy: Lorcan - A white Dartmoor pony, large and muscular for his breed. Has killed many stallions for Dax, but plans mutiny for some day in the future.
