I have a few adult button quail that I have questions about color.

I thought I would post a few pics and see what you guys think.

First two photos male red breasted?

Third photo same male and Hen Ivory? she really has a more cream color in the photo she looks a bit orange.

Last photo hen I thought was a fallow as I had fallow eggs but not sure on her and did not want to shine a light in the chicks eyes when she was young to see if they were red.

Thank you for your thoughts,

John

The first doesn't look like a redbreasted, he's too light for that. Maybe a diluted redbreast? Did you get these from QLOFM? I don't know on your first hen, but your last hen looks like a pearl or maybe cinnamon pearl.

Good observation, it probably does have blueface in it somewhere since it has no bib. That would explain the markings on his back as well.

Yes Alexandra,

The Fallow eggs did all make it in great shape.

My first thought on the male above was silver blue face red breasted.

I was told that color could not happen but that is what I thought it was.

And the eggs that male came from I think are also from Alexandra

Any other thoughts on what he might be?

Thanks,

John

The face is dark so there is blueface. I can tell you it looks like he is the offspring of a blue face male and a light silver red breast hen hence....drumroll....silver blue face red breasted

The purpose of a blue face and silver together is create the silver blue face/smokey but color in between occur as well. The miracles of genetics.
