It's been a long time since Ive been on here! My Silkie hen (she is a partridge) has been sitting on one egg 21 days yesterday. I noticed her setting and then put the rest of the eggs collected (stored at room temperature) under her the next morning. They've been candled several times, seen movement in some on the 20th day. As I've read on here, I know it can take longer than 21 days. So far, I hear one chick chirping and tapping on the inside of the egg. I'm just wandering how long it will take this breed to hatch? silkie eggs seem harder than most white shelled eggs. This is the first time I've had a hen go broody. this hen is also under a year old. Should this be of any concern? Thanks for any comments!

I had the same thing happen with my white silkie hen a month ago and now i got 6 baby chicks, she was under a year old and it was her first time too. There's nothing to worry about and give the eggs that don't hatch about 3-4 days after the time they should hatch just in case some are a little late.
