I'm just happy mine go nuts for the grasshoppers. I spray the little grasshoppers with an insecticidal soap which takes care of those ones, but it doesn't work on the bigger ones so when I let the chickens out they hunt for them. When they are in the coop I catch the larger grasshoppers and feed them.
So the soap is safe for the chickens?
I was wondering the same thing...seems like a bad idea to mix anything ending in "cide" with something chickens will eat.
Mine will eat potato bugs, but know better than to mess with a honey bee. Makes me wonder if they've been stung.
It's an organic soap, most like a coconut oil based soap similar to castille soap. I bet it's perfectly safe. I think you can eat the veggies that are sprayed, same day.
