Laying Egg with no shell

I have a chicken that has been laying eggs but with absolutely no shell at all. I am a novice and have no Idea what could be happening. They eat organic pellets and have plenty of oyster shells to eat. They are also free range and eat lots of bugs etc. This hen has been fine for a year. The only change is that I got rid of my rooster. Any help appreciated!
 
she is laying whats called a rubber egg.also known as an egg without a shell.if she dont start putting a shell on the egg.she will need tobe culled.or kept for a pet.because her eggs are no good.
 
Our girls often lay shell-less eggs at the beginning or end of a laying cycle. They've layed numerous rubber eggs over the years (and they have been known to stand on them and wear them like a slipper before

After their winter rest when there's enough sunlight to lay again there might be a few dodgy starts (maybe one rubber egg and then a small / weird shaped egg) but then they are on fine form again.

They're gettting on to be five years old, and yet from three hens we get an average of 12 - 14 beautiful eggs a week.
 
I also have a chicken that lays an egg every day that has no shell. If I find it immediately I gather it and use it that day for me, or save it for the kids who like to see weird eggs. But generally it breaks and gets eaten. I am still searching for "why" so if I find it I will post. Obviously a genetic defect.

I have on hen that has been doing the same thing the past 3 weeks. I hard boil the egg just like an egg with a shell and it's fine.

I'm still trying to figure out which hen it is and be able to give her whatever the "cure" is. Have been giving lots of ground oyster shell and some extra Vit. D.

I have a cream legbar - about a year old. It was very slow to start laying but seemed fine then it got a bit lathargic and finally layed an egg with no shell then nothing for weeks yesterday I got another shell - less egg. Maybe she ended her laying run - shortas it was that way and is just starting up again. What do you think?

I've a young Silkie pullet who laid rubber eggs for a few weeks that usually fell victim to the rooster. In the past few days though I've seen an improvement. Her eggs are now hard, but uber fragile. All four hens have the same feed, free access to the yard, greens, bugs, etc. I broadcast the oyster shell all over my garden pathways so there's lots of shell available no matter where they are in the garden.
I'm only feeding scratch grains since they have yard access all day. The other 3 lay perfectly fine eggs and they are within a few months of each other in age.

If your rubber egg chicken doesn't measure up in the laying flock, perhaps she can be enlisted to go broody and rear up your replacement flocks so your layers don't rotate out of production to set.

My Polish was very upset after we lost a very sweet cockerel that she liked, to a skunk. She was so frightened she wouldn't even come out of the hen house unless I would sit right there with her. Then when she started to go out I had to call for her to come back in.....after about a week of that I neve saw again....I still call for her most everyday. The last egg she ever laid was a jelloy egg!

I saw one of my hens lay an egg today. It's the first one I've ever seen laid and it had no shell too! I was very surprised. I've never seen this before or heard of it. I think it may be due to a lack of light lately. We have had problems with our chickens "crossing the road" so they have been penned up for a bit. We are working on a fence for them presently.
