To the OP:
If you have a particularly laid back hen in your flock, perhaps the lowest in the pecking order, you can do something similar. Put the new silkie together with the hen, let them bond, and then release them back into the flock. The original hen will have to re-establish herself in the pecking order along with the silkie so they'll be picking on both of them. I have learned from experience that establishing pecking order while chicks can go almost unnoticed but add a couple younger and smaller chickens and it can get brutal.
