How long do ducks take to hatch?

Mine pipped as of last night at 7 and I heard chirping and 1 even pipped a few more times. As of 9 oclock last night I haven't heard any chirping and it hasn't made any more progress. Isn't 12 hours a long time for nothing to happen? Or do they take long breaks like that? I talk to them, but no response. Did they not make it?

Yes, this is totally normal. I just recently hatched ducklings for the first time and if I hadn't read on this forum that they can take ages, I'd have been really worried, as mine pipped then did nothing at all for another 36 hours. Like, ABSOLUTELY nothing - no rocking, no peeping, no pecking at the pip hole. It was really boring!
 
Yep, ducklings rest a long time between stages. If you have NO external pips you can candle a couple to make sure they are doing ok, but do not do this if even one egg has pipped externally already it could cause the membrane to wrap onto the duckling. Maintain humidity (70% is a good number) and temp, and sit on your hands and wait.

That's what I did with mine - I just ignored them. Luckily I'd been hatching for a while and so it wasn't quite as OMG!!! as it was with my first few hatches, so once I saw a pip I noted down which egg, and the time & date, then just left them all to get on with it. I had a quick look in every few hours, but apart from that, I didn't just keep the bator shut, I kept the door to the room shut as well!
