Rooster bachelor pad?

I've been taking in rescue birds. I now have 5 roosters. Yes, very stupid. Anyhow, I have a large protected area where I keep my geese and ducks. I'm thinking about creating a "bachelor" area, where I put the excess roosters. Has anybody kept a flock of just roos? (why would a sane person do that??) I"m just wondering if they will sit around, pining for hens, crowing all day. The only other alternative is trying to re-home them (read: freezer camp, I'm sure). I wouldn't mind keeping them in the new pasture as long as they didn't start crowing every hour of the day. Anybody have a rooster flock?
 
Ive heard of many people having just roo's in a pen.
They should be fine as long as they don't see or hear any hens.
The hens are what make them crazy

I got one and the most I had in there was 14 roosters of different breeds, they were all born here so the got along well.

except for the occasional fight to establish pecking order, but they do get loud once one starts to crow the next will follow and then the next untill they all get to crow and then it starts all over again

but they don't do it all day long at least I don't notice it any more

I have 5 seperate coops/pens for roosters. They are different sizes, from 4x8 to 8x12. Sometimes I can keep several together in one pen. I have three breeder coops currently that have one rooster each in 8x 12. One coop has several roosters and is 8x16. I do not free range my roosters.

You'll just have to try it and see. Usually, several roos get along nicely without hens. You might have one that likes to start stuff, in that case that one needs to go. Same for crowing. Some roos crow all day, some only at the "appropriate" times. But competetive crowing can cause some prolonged noise. I say try it, knowing one or all may need to go down the road.
 
Right now they are all together and get along with each other just fine-- it's the hens who get pestered all day long. I'm moving them tonight, so I'll know soon. I appreciate the input and comments. Thanks!
 
Let us know! I'm still planning a Bachelor Pen (I've read where it's pretty common). I got side-tracked dealing with some sick chickens but can't wait for the "Boy Band" to come together.
As far as the reason sane people do it? For the love of a bird. The human animal bond is one of the strongest in the world
