We have the second one, but we do not use the lid with it. It locks so tightly I was concerned about moisture being trapped and getting funky. Mine only holds 10 eggs, which is kind of weird. I have had no problems.

The first is beautiful!

ETA: commercial style egg cartons do not seal. In fact the cardboard ones breathe!

I don't think it matters one bit...egg cartons are not a sealed container. I mean you don't plan on keeping them for months in there do you?
You get fresh ones daily....so whatever you wish to see I would imgine!

Thanks!! Pretty one it is

But I do also love that open stoneware one! Hmmm...maybe that one too for when the egg skelter gets full (if my girls will ever start back laying regularly).

They're sold in the UK (search Egg Skelter), and I haven't been able to find a dealer here in the States.

You can order from the UK and have 'em shipped, but I'd rather not bother.
