Anyone know where I can get a list of poisonus plants for ducks? Some of us want to plant around our runs and other areas, but want to know what NOT TO PLANT. I've searched on BYC, but all that comes up is for what chickens can't eat. Thanks.

Well, I finally found a fellow BYCer who sometime ago posted a list of toxic plants, acually for poultry. Here is the site: http://www.poultryhelp.com/toxicplants.html
I cannot believe if you Google, "toxic plants for ducks", you get absolutely nothing....no lists of toxic plants specifically for ducks. I even Wikipedia'd it. Anyone know of a site that lists toxic plants for ducks???????

I can say I have fed my ducks sweet potato vines and malabar spinach, both of which they seemed to enjoy. They also like violets so I would assume pansies would fall under the same umbrella as them(both in the viola family). Also dandelion greens and clover have both been taken. Also, most brassicas should be safe for them to forage on.
This next year I'm going to try some northern sea oats as well. From what I've been able to find on the web, the oats are eaten by wild ducks in their native habitat so I doubt it would be toxic.

There's a nursery up the road from my place and this last spring they let me raid their "garbage plant/compost" pile... I brought home TONS of different bushes and stuff, lots of Rhodies & Azaleas... both of which are supposed to be highly poisonous... and the ducks have chewed them all up and lived. They also love pruining up my poor lilacs.

Two of my ducks ate some potatoe plant leaves. Should I do anything or just keep an eye on them?
