Ahh I had a BA cockrel named Jet. He found his new home last summer along with my BSL cockrel Oliver. I have 2 girls, Betty and Patooty although Betts name has some how morphed into Aussie momma. Probably because she has been broody 2 times this summer and hatched out a total of 17 chicks. I absolutly love my Aussies when they are not broody

They lay like crazy and are very friendly. Even when broody.
This is Aussie momma with her last set that hatched Sept 11th

What are the true looks of an australorp

I'm hoping someone out there can help me. My 8 year old son is in 4H and is looking for a Black Australorp for a 4H project. He'll be wanting to show them so we'd like them to be from "show quality" stock. Are there any breeders out there that sell hatching eggs and/or chicks? Thank you!

I own 5 Black Austrolorps, 4 hens and a rooster. The rooster's name is Napolean. He is very roosterly and is fertilizing the hens, getting beat up by amorous guinea keets intent on impressing their mates, and coming out of these scraps with a bedraggled set of tail-feathers. But he sounds like a big ole hen when he crows. The hen's names are Anise, Thistle, (named for the lovely thistle flower, not the spines.) Maple and Blackie. Anise is our domainant female and is very independant and will protest loudly if our poor rooster even tries to court her, drawing the attention of the love-struck guineas. Thistle is our little diva and will haunt you till she gets a sizable donation from your lunch, sqawking happily with every victory. Maple is a very motherly figure and will comfort all in distress not caring if your a chicken, a huge dog or a human, she is also the pushiest hen when it comes to treats, promptly jumping on my lap if she thinks I have anything edible with me and eating directly from the plate and using me as her personal napkin. Blackie is a very friendly hen and loves snuggling in my jacket sleeves, she has a love of the house and tries to get in whenever she's nearby when the door opens. She sometimes succeeds.

I have two Austrolorps the same exact age, one is getting her comb the other isn't. My question is ROOs or HENS?
