Building pond: Want to know how to attract wild ducks

We noticed when driving around that some of the holding ponds near the highway were filled with ducks and there wasn't even much cover for them. I guess it really is like if you build it they will come.

I have 1 gray call drake and 3 female grays one of those females are actually on my pond and today I think a flock of ducks were circling the pond.

I would recommend putting a female call out because they make a lot more noise than the drakes.

Thanks!
We actually have ducks visiting the pond even without using tame ducks to lure them in. We have had hooded mergansers out on the pond, but they are very spooky. We aren't going to shoot them or anything, but they are just very very spooky. On the other side of the pond's dam, there is a swampy area with a bunch of trees and we hear the ducks back in there calling. We are pretty sure they are sleeping back in there at night as we see them fly back there late in the day and hear their calls. I just can't get much of a glimpse of them, but luckily we do have ducks visiting!

The small island in the middle of the pond has a tree growing on it so that is neat. I am not sure if the ducks will perch in the tree once it is big, but I thought perhaps it would be a nice place for them to sleep. We are not at the pond a lot so they have lots of privacy.

try sending a pic if you can get one of the hooded ducks I've never heard of them before because I live in MISSOURI

WOW those hooded mergansers are cool looking I wish they came around here I looked at a pic on google

I am pretty sure we have wood ducks in Florida...We are at the edge of Florida and have definitely seen them in Alabama.
I haven't been able to get photos of the hooded mergansers on our pond, but here is a photo I took of them at a different pond that we help maintain but it isn't ours:
This is a pair. I don't keep any ducks, but I have read a bit about hooded mergansers. They are supposedly a very fun duck to keep.

Here is the female diving.
