Well my poor hen was tired and I knew it was time and thank goodness for a good friend who quickly put her out of her suffering. Had to know what was wrong as I had tried everything under the sun to help her, it looks like it was polycystic ovarian disease. I had this hen for 3 years and loved the dickens out of her and feel a bit more at peace knowing I did all I could and the out come was not gonna be changed by any amount of my care. My friend who took the photo's and helped my Ethel out of her suffering said it also looked like she was laying internally too. If this can help anyone else you can PM me and I will tell you all about symptoms and signs. RIP Ethel!

If she was she hid it very well - greeted me at the cage door, excited for treats and gobbled up all things offered her, even made friendly chirps when we would come into the garage. She was my favorite!
Today she showed signs of being exhausted and since all that I was doing was not helping I decided it was time and she assured me it was.
