She looks like my Old English Game hens.  Can she fly?  My Old English Game Chickens fly well for chickens.

As of yet friend says she hasn't tried to fly!

She looks too stocky for a game breed... Is she bantam or large fowl, do you know? The coloring is a common EE pattern. She may be a mix.

Good for you for taking her in! thumbsup.gif

Its a CHICKEN!yippiechickie.gif

Only joking... think its an Old English Game hen also, or perhaps a mix breed with OEG in it.  Good job for saving her!

I am completely ignorant when it comes to chicken. I know hens lay eggs, that's about it (right? smile.png )

The few replies seem to agree that it's a hen, not a rooster of some kind. Which is good because I found someone willing to take a Hen on their hobby farm. Now, to transport the poor thing.........

Yes, she's most definitely a hen.

Transporting chickens isn't really hard at all. When I've had to take a bird places, I get a large cardboard box and tape all the edges with either duct tape or packing tape, cut some air holes, and put some hay/saw dust/bedding on the bottom. I stick the bird in, shut the lid, and drive off. smile.png I know some companies make special poultry transport crates, but a cardboard box is just as easy and possibly cheaper.

this. or if you have a cat carrier or other pet carrier that would be nicer for the bird.
