Ivermectin for scaley leg mites

I rescued some chickens from a neighbor that where loosing toes, unfortunately they had scaley mites. I want to treat them with Ivermectin since they are all free range , but not sure of dosage or how long we need to pull eggs after treatment. It doesnt help that I am currently pregnant and considered high risk, but I will do what I can to help my chickens and my ducks.
 
Easiest thing to do is put vaseoline on their legs. Keeps you away from the ivermectin. I sure would not use it if you are pregnant. You can add the ivermectin to the water. But you still have to handle it. It's 3ml to a 3 gallon waterer.

x2 save the ivermectin for when no other Rx is available. Do a search and you will find other choices as well as vasoline. Cooking oil, mineral oil , wd40 are other oil based solutions that I have read.
 
My Obgyn actually recomended Ivermectin, because it is easier and quicker for me to administer without prolonged contact to the chickens. His first recomendation is to get rid of them , due to the fact that they can carry a type of bacteria that can be harmful to the fetus. That not being a good option for me but still wanting to take precations with my baby. I also have Cochins that are show birds and it has been pointed out that the oil , ect is not a good way to go due to the feet feathers and it not being that succesfull in feather footed birds. Was hoping someone knew a dosage so I wouldnt have to get rid of my birds.
 
use the eprinex version of it. there is 0 withdrawal and all you have to do is use a syringe (a drop or two) without the needle and rub it in the leg. I have used it without any problem its quick and painless for you and the bird. just make sue the leg looks like you have shined it up, you do not need alot. its very safe for the bird. go back 10 days latter and just make sure there gone, unless the infestation is real bad you should not have to retreat.

I've tried the vasiline treatment its never worked for me, but the only mites I've ever had to treat is dumped off birds
