Up for bid are purebred Ancona Duck hatching eggs

I will be collecting these eggs starting tomorrow and send whatever they have laid before I ship on Wednesday. I will update with how many eggs each day.

My flock has both black and chocolate anconas. My hens are excellent layers only taking 1-2 month break in the fall to moult out. They easily out lay my austrolorp hens. Anconas are great foragers and efficient layers and they are much more docile than some ducks. Ancona ducks do not fly and they stay close to home while out foraging in the yard. They do not require a pool to breed, but ours get them anyway because it keeps them happy and near 100% fertility. Anconas make a great dual purpose breed for both egg production and high quality meat. Ancona ducks also are great yard ducks because of their active foraging behaviors and friendly disposition. I could just go on and on about how great these ducks are. Another very important thing to mention is that they are critically endangered and in need of preservation.

We need more people dedicated to breeding quality Anconas!

Although their numbers are increasing we still need to help preserve this breed because they are not out of the woods just yet.

I will be collecting these eggs starting tomorrow and send whatever they have laid before I ship on Wednesday. I will update with how many eggs each day.

Please pay promptly through pay pal so that I can ship them as scheduled on Wednesday.

I have my flock separated into 2 groups

  1. chocolate and black ducks with a chocolate drake
  2. black ducks with a black drake
I collect the eggs daily early in the morning as all of my ducks lay early. I will wipe off any dirt on the eggs, but I do not wash them. The eggs are turned daily and stored in a dark room. I package the eggs in bubble wrap and pack them air cell up in a large box with lots and lots of shredded newspaper. I hand deliver my eggs to the post office and have many labels on the box that read Live Embryos, handle with care, do not X-Ray, please protect from extreme cold and heat etc.... If you would like me to leave the box plain with no labels, just let me know and I can leave them off. I can also put your phone number and a note for the post office to hold the eggs for pick up if you would like also just send me your number and any instructions at the end of auction.

I think I PM'ed you but for anyone else wondering the same.....

I wouldn't recommend they be incubated with chicken eggs because duck eggs require a much higher humidity than chicken eggs and the humidity would probably kill your chicks or cause a not so great hatch and if the ducks didn't get enough humidity they would not hatch right either.

Ancona ducks take 28 days to hatch (my eggs have been hatching on day 28 exactly)

Thanks for the questions if you have any more just ask.

What day a and time zone does this auction end. My last experience with shipped eggs was not so good out of 23 duck eggs I only have 5 that are proceeding with heartbeats and veining. ALL air cells were detached so I have had all my eggs upright at a slight angle. Please let me know the date and time with time zone that this auction ends. I am in Iowa BTW. Thanks.

Thank you so much for your advice. I'll be looking forward to future auctions that you'll be having. I'm already committed to my chicken eggs that I have coming. Once they're done I'll be looking for you out here.

Happy Hatching all!

The Auction will end Tuesday at 6:30 pm Central time. It is deffinately a risk you run with shipping hatching eggs I do my best to package the eggs as good as I possibly can, but I can't ride along with the eggs to make sure they are treated gentle so I can't guarantee your hatching success.

The bid so far is $10.00

I started collecting for this auction this morning and got 4 eggs. So the egg count is at 4 right now, but we still have 3 days of collection left

I got 4 eggs again today! So the total is 8 eggs so far. The auction will be ending tomorrow at 6:30 pm Central time, but I'm going to collect wednesdays eggs and include them in the shipment and then ship on wed. So if the girls keep up like they are there could be over 12 eggs here!

Get your bids in now!

The current bid is still at $10.00 to mamawolf544
