Hi Everyone! I know I have been pestering everyone the last week or so about my hen that is ill. A couple days ago she pooped out a cream colored blob of poop that smelled so bad it made me want to puke. She did it again today, but it wasn't a blob, it looks more like a cooked strip of lasagna noodle or something and the texture is very thick. When I say noodle, no it looks nothing like a worm and yes I have wormer (Valbezen) on order for worming! Anyways, I also included a few other pictures of what her poop has been looking like the last week or so. She isn't eating much, only wants to eat meal worms. Turns her nose up at cooked oatmeal, scrambled eggs, warm mash, and now yogurt. She did eat the scrambled egg once, and the oatmeal several times as well as the yogurt, but now she won't really eat them. Occasionally she will eat her layer pellets. She is so severely under weight I don't know if she will make it. I noticed she had lice when bathing her thinking she was egg bound but she hasn't passed an egg and I am treating her for lice. I think her abdomen is distended but she is so under weight it is hard to tell. I took her in this last November and I really don't have much history on her other then she might be a year or two old and that she lays brown eggs, but I don't think she has laid and egg since we have had her. Anyways, I'm really just wanting some insight as to why she is pooping the white masses out that smell so bad it will make you puke. For the most part, her poop looks like the last picture, the green and white, which I read the green means her bile is concentrated due to not eating enough food. Poor girl!

It looks like lash to me. Shed parts of the reproductive system. I don't know much about it because there is not a whole lot of info out there on it. Actually, there is a lot of info on it, but it is often conflicting and there are no real answers for what it is exactly, what causes it, whether it is dangerous or not, why it happens, etc.

The long and short of all I have read on it says it's usually a fluke and should cause no lasting harm.

Thanks for the response and info! Now that I have an idea of what it can be I can try and look up more info on it. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it is a fluke and doesn't continue.

The only thing it reminds me of is in human newborns when one occasionally passes a meconium plug (meconium is the first stools that line the bowel)...it almost appears as intestines itself, and scares us nurses not used to seeing it! But, meconium plugs don't stink. I did wonder with the first 2 pictures if it was perhaps reproductive material. Like eggs that were big blunders. But I don't know what that's stink?

I'll go out on a limb and guess she has an intestinal parasite of some sort, or constipation. But keep in mind I have no clue

I wonder if it'd be a good idea to take a new stool sample in and maybe do some antibiotics?

I'd love to see a pic of your sweet hen as well...now that we've all seen her poop and I think a toe...

I've got the wormer on order (not due in until Feb. 6th) and also Corid, I was thinking maybe she has coccidia. I would do a stool sample, but after the money I put into her medication I really don't have money to take her to he vet or just even a stool sample in. I called to price a stool sample and it was $50.00! That seems a little high in price to me, I thought I read on here that someone had a stool sample done for $15.00, I like that price much better...lol. I was thinking of starting her on Wazine since I can get it locally and then the Valabazen when I receive it and if she doesn't turn around I was going to try the Corid. I chose Corid because it treats all the types of Coccidia, where as Sulmet only treats one type of coccidia. I was almost thinking of trying Dacoxine which would treat Canker and E-Coli as well as Coccidia. I'll call around and see if I can get a cheaper price on a stool sample.

Oh, and I promise when I get home from work this evening I'll post a picture of my sweet hen.

Be careful with doing too many meds, antibiotics can reek havok on the intestines...they kill off all bacteria, even the good ones.

Yes, I will only give one at a time with some yogurt to help her digestive system at the end of a treatment, is that often enough, e.g. 10 days? What about buttermilk, I have read that is better but I am unsure if it is supposed to be the powdered or the liquid form, and would they eat the liquid form?
