Just want to show off my new nest box. I think almost anyone could make something like it! I was inspired by the pictures Opa posted, but mine is a little different. I lined it with cut up floor mats, thinking I could wash them,. but they are getting kid of gross, so I am going to rplace them with regular nest liners from farmtek. This is my second rollout nest box, I made one out of plastic crates last time, but the place where the eggs rolled out to was not big enough. I dont have any hens that eat eggs now, but I have before, and I also wanted this so that I could go away for a few days and the eggs would be safe. I have had some problems with some of the hens bot laying in the box, so I put some straw and fake eggs in the boxes for awhile until they got used to laying there and now it works great.
