Not laying eggs :( ??

How old is she?

how old is it?? and if its not to old i would wait. i had a hen not lay for 4 months, she just quit laying. i let her be and then she started laying again. it could be age, stress, or weather.

She also could have been molting. Most hens stop laying eggs while they molt and then resume after the molt is complete. Both of my hens stopped laying for several months because they were molting, then when they were done they kept laying as if they never stopped

Put a light in the coop, make sure she gets plenty of fresh water. My birds stopped laying for almost an entire year. We switched them to a mixture a layer crumbles (not mash) and cracked corn, installed auto-waterers, and put in a light. I'm getting an average of a dozen a day from my thirteen hens. Don't rush to commit henacide, try to get her laying first. Where is your coop located? If it is in shade most of the day, your hen is in her winter non-laying cycle. Basically, you need twelve to fourteen hours of light for your hen to think it's time to lay eggs. I recommend that if you decide to add a light, take a brooder lamp and put it near where they sleep at night, not close enough to wake up in the morning to 'fried chicken' but close enough for the light to wake them up when it comes on. Put it on a light timer (you can buy them from some pet stores) and set it to come on about 3-4 in the morning and turn off at about 8. It will take about a week to notice consistent results and you may have to adjust the timer for your particular area. The lamp will also be able to keep them warm on cold winter nights. Also what breed is she? EE? They stop laying during november and into winter typically (unless there's a light), and when it gets too hot in the summer. I hope you decide to give her another chance. Otherwise I recommend checking out a book from your local library on how to slaughter and process chickens.

P.S. If she's EE and you're not satisfied with her, sell her, she won't taste very good. That breed isn't a meat chicken. I'm just guessing EE because she looks like my EE's.

Don't kill her yet. Has she not started, or is she taking a break? It is very normal for a hen to not lay in the winter- add some artifical light. She may also be molting. If she hasn't started, she's just a late bloomer, she may wait till spring. But don't just kill her. Besides, she would have no meat on her at all- she looks like some kind of bantam.

She looks like an Old English Game to me... except for her blueish legs. I have one that looks just like her. She lays very nice cream or white colored eggs.

How many chickens do you have? What do you feed your bird(s)? How big is the coop?

Chickens are social animals - if she is alone, she may never lay due to stress. Get a couple other hens to keep her company and see how she does.

She's not even part EE. EE's ARE dual purpose birds. We ate one of our extra roos just a few days ago, way meatier than the scrawny egg laying breeds. But the bird in question doesn't have muffs, beard, pea comb, or even a body type to make me think she's even part EE. She looks like a hatchery Phoenix to me. Way too small and light bodied for me to consider eating, but hey, to each their own... I think she's a bbr Phoenix. My hens all slowed down in their laying over the winter, but have been picking up again in the last 2 weeks. If you ust got her recently, the stress could be keeping her from laying. She needs some friends and to feel safe to get back to laying. She looks fairly young, so I'm sure she'll start laying again soon. She is not a breed known for egg laying, whether she is a Phoenix or something else, looks gamey. If you want eggs, maybe get a couple egg laying breed hens to keep her company.

It's hard to see her comb in this pic. It looks like it may be a rose comb x single comb, but it's hard to say by this pic. In that case, she is a mixed breed, but she still looks like a hatchery Phoenix to me, maybe crossed with something with a rose comb.
