Can I introduce 1 day old chicks to a group of six 10-14 day olds? - Page 2

Anyone have experience with young bantams and chicks that are a bit less than two weeks old? We have six Silkies coming to join our 10 Speckled Sussex, and I'd prefer to be able to keep them together. Would waiting a week or so to let the Silkies find their feet be doable? The Sussex will be moving into a large brooder soon, but I hesitate to add such little chicks into the fray. On the other hand, it'd be nice to have just two flocks to integrate later this spring and not three.

Once the silkies have their feet, I'd probably toss them with the rest. I've raised a batch of silkies in the same box as two broad breasted tom turkies. LOL As they grew up, the silkies learned fast that it is best to be on top of the turkey than under them.
