I have a sick chicken in my room, and I dont know what is wrong with her. She has been like this for two and a half weeks. At first I thought she was egg bound, but egg bound hens usually die before a week is up, and I put my finger up there and I cant feel an egg. She doesnt have egg yolk peritonitis because she would have died already. Here are some details of the hen.
She is a female Rhode Island Red
she is almost four years old
she has the "penguin stance"
she is eating and drinking normally
she Occasionally clucks
she sometimes breathes heavy, but mostly normally
her crop feels normal
her bottom is kind of soft
we have not gotten an egg from her since I brought her in
If anybody has had a chicken like this before, please let me know. Please include how to treat her, if you know how. If you think she is eggbound or egg yolk peritonitis, say so.
