At least you have 5. Official end of day 21 as I type (if you go with the moment you set it being zero and the same time the next day 1). Nothing, no movement, pipping, chirping. My temp fell to 95-94 last night. I opened it up to add some more water (I figure if other people pull them out to do a float test, what could I hurt? ) candled one egg and it's totally full, no light passing through anything but the air cell. They are fully developed just unable to hatch I guess. I'll give them a few more days, but at this point I'm not expecting anything. At least my duck eggs have movement! Hope I don't run into the same thing when they go on lockdown.

Don't give up! I have 7, looks like one tried to pip, it looks like blood around the edges. I'm leaving the rest alone until tomorrow at least. And I have to say that I lied earlier, this is not my worst hatch. Last year, late spring early summer. I ordered 2 sets of eggs from a lady off of ebay. I left my number for PO to call, which I found out my PO wont do that. Anyway the eggs came in 2 separate boxes. The mail lady left them on bottom steps, one box sideways, and one upside down in the hot sun, temp was over 100 that day. So by the way they were sitting there she probably tossed them....even though you know it said fragile. Not one hatched. I dont blame the lady I bought them from, I know they had a really rough treatment with the postal service. But I was upset, was going to give up. Then I decided I would hatch some of my own since my hens were now laying. Everyone one of those guys hatched.

Wish we had a shipping service just for hatching eggs. If I win the lottery I just might start one. lau.gif

I've not got much hope, dispite turning the temp up right before going to bed the temp dropped to 95 again last night. They didn't budge last night either. They moved yesterday late afternoon, I candled them all and reset them in an L shape, which they deviated from. I realized after looking at the candling pics that we were a couple days behind developement wise on the 18th day, so they probably should have hatched yesterday or today into tomorrow morning. They didn't move a bit last night. I'm going to sell both these LGs and get me a self regulating bator.

Ah! I need to learn to leave things alone. I decided since I didn't have any pips I would candle again and see if any air cells had been punctured. Candled one and there was movement! Yeah! They're not dead. Problem is I decided to move them back into formation (w/o changing their orientation so they didn't lose their positioning) I moved one and the stupid bird pipped the wrong end! Ah! So I probably shrink wrapped him. I had a spray bottle handy and sprayed the spot, he hasn't broken totally through, but pushed the egg off, the membrane looks still intact, so hopefully I didn't kill him. At any rate he's pipping at the small end so he's probably gonna die anyway from what I've read about it. Next time I think I will lock down based on candling not on dates. That's probably why he's pipping the wrong end cause he's been on one side for nearly 5 days. D'oh

If your temp has been dropping, it is probably just taking them a little longer to develop. I saw this thread yesterday. People went on vacation and while they were gone eggs were collected and placed in a bucket. Well apparently they started developing. Here is the link

Wow, that is cool. I'm confused tho. How could those four have been peeping if she waited a whole 21 days for the rest of the eggs to hatch..... I think maybe she had some cracked eggs, if you boil cracked eggs they sometimes whistle.

I'm torn on whether to flip the pipped one around. I oriented the pip up, should I turn it back face down like it was? Or quit my meddling :p

So my update it's day 22 for Brahma's and day 23 for Sex Links.  I had 4 sexlinks so far three have hatched one showing no signs, I did the float test and it floated high with only a small amount above the water....no monement though....thinking this one will not hatch but I'll wait another day or two...doesn't smell or anything.

Brahma's day 21 had 2 hatch and one while i was sleeping.  Not sure if I should have done this or not but I gave 2 of the eggs to my broody yesterday as she was still sitting on 3 eggs that were 27 days old.  I also gave her one of the hatched chicks because she only had one from her hatch.  I did it at night and she is taking to him like she hatched him.  I had 8 eggs, 3 hatched I have three more with nothing going on yet and her two with nothing going on.  One of the hatched ones has been acting funny weak and everytime he tries to move it end up on his back...i don'y think he will make it....there was some blood when he hatched.  He hatched about 7pm last night and as of 10:00 today he isn't moving very much.....should I cull him/her or let nature take it's course???

Also I do know that Brahma's mature slower and I noticed that they hatched much slower than the sex links.  They took forever from pip to come out.  And they didn't even start to pip until day 21 and I still have five with nothing and there were all moving inside the shell at lockdown.  I am hopeful that they could still make it fl.gif

I have another batch to go into lockdown on monday.  7 splash ee's, 10 BCM, and 2 cochin and 2 Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks

Any news???

well I ended up with 11 that hatched. The 3 that were left had no movement, fully developed, 1 had not absorbed all the yolk yet though. Thinking maybe they didn't make it past day 18. 3 out of 11 that hatched have died. They had trouble hatching, and were smaller than the others, so I am not surprised. Sad though. They were all cochins. I only have one cochin left, very healthy. 4 lav orps, one had trouble, very small, but seems a fighter, we will see. 1 OE, very cute. 2 mystery chicks as I was supposed to receive Lav orps, black lav split orps, 1 OE, and the rest cochins. These 2 are clean legged and are yellow with red tint. Cute and very healthy though.
