I just set eggs this morning 3-13-12 Has anyone else? - Page 14

Had one hatch this evening, nothing on the other 6 eggs. No rocking or chirping. Hope he's not going to be a lonely chick :( fingers crossed the other start pipping soon, we're at 23 1/2 days now.

Wow, I missed a few days on here and so many posts. I sure hope you hatched more than one. That happened to me once before, and what a nightmare. The chick bonded to me and wouldn't shut up if I left him alone. We had to keep him with my daughters bunny at night to get him to stop chirping.

 

Well, I hope everyone is having a wonderful Easter.

We did have another hatch over night. I candled them all this morning. The two that were a little behind never developed the rest of the way, I opened to confirm what I thought and threw them out. That leaves three eggs. Two I can't tell if they are alive or not, one was still alive for sure, but none of them are trying to get out.

Especially since I went to the feed store and bought two more chicks to keep my two company :p Couldn't help it, the two of them looked so lonely. Opened my other three eggs and they were all fully formed, but hadn't absorbed the yolk, so even if I had helped they wouldn't have lived. Kinda makes me feel better about waiting. If they had been complete w/ yolk inside I would have felt awful for sitting on my hands. That give me a 16% hatch rate.... my ducks go on lockdown tonight, hopefully I get better results w/ them I'm at 60% already if they all hatch.....
