The biggest bird I have is a Buff Orpington. (They are chicks right now) (I also have sextons and Rhode Island reds.

Right now they have a door leaving the coop that measures 7x7 inches... Is this too small? (Not finished yet... )

Yes. 12" x 12" might even be a bit small for an adult Orpington.

7x7 is way small, mine is 14x14 but 12 12 would work, best is 12 wide and 14 high

It depend if you plan to raise very large breed.  I have 8"x10" coop door, but modify to 12"x16" after add a Jersey Giant rooster.  He is a monster about 24" tall.

I don't plan to own any larger breeds at this point. The largest breed I own now is the  Buff Orpington. Thanks for the input. I would love to not have to recut the door. But don't want to wait till they move in to do it either.

Orpingtons are quite large birds. Possibly only the Jersey Giant is bigger. So you may as well cut that door now. : )
