Geese trying to adopt ducklings?

We have more Moscovy ducks in our neighborhood than any other type of ducks. I brought 3 geese into the neighborhood about 15 years ago, and the one I thought was a Gander, started hanging out with a Moscovy female and her 13 ducklings. Now, she has abandoned them, and he or she has adopted and totally protects them from any harm. I have never seen such a thing

That's just the way they are, they make awesome parents my gander has raised many Muscovy ducklings when the mamas had better things to do.

I have a similar situation with my 2 young ganders. I put my ducklings into a secure pen inside of the "big kids" pen. While the geese scream at any of the chickens or turkeys that happen to wander by their pen, they don't scream at the babies. They will fuss at the babies if they get too close to the edge of the pen, but generally plunk down next to it as if they are watching the ducklings antics with amusement. I find my Welsh Harlequin pair and the 2 pekin girls hovering by the baby pen too. Today, I pulled the babies out of the big pen sat down on the grass poolside, and let them swim in the big kids pool. Once they had hopped out they went over to the goose/duck enclosure and cheeped at them as if to say "Hey lemme in". The geese and ducks seemed highly agitated the babies were running amok without them there to supervise. LOL I won't let them actually touch the babies for a while, but thought it was cute and amusing.
I'm not entirely sure which want the babies more right now and for what potential reason. The Harlequin pair have been making goo-goo eyes at them since they have been in the baby pen, and the female will park right next to it gazing at them. Note, she has also been making eyes at the drake. Maybe she's filling his head with the notion of babies of their own. Who knows what ducky conversations they have been having

She nearly dragged the drake into the "duckloo" today probably picking out wallpaper and such for the nursery.
One of the ducklngs "Spats", is a little too fearless tho. He will already snap at the chickens and turkeys that get too close and chased them away from HIS baby pool. (Note Spats is all of about 4 weeks old and they are twice his size LOL) He thought really really hard about taking a snap at the gander parked by his pen and then side stepped away from the edge. Sooo brave
