I just was checking on chicks and my five week old Rhode Island Red chick is keeping her head tucked underneath her body. It's not behind her wing, like when they sleep sometimes and she refuses to lift her head up. She is moving around a little, but she keeps her head tucked underneath her body. I lifted her to the top of the brooder to get a better look at her, and she kept her head underneath. She fell back into the brooder, she made a little squawk and sort of opened her wings but she kept her head underneath her body and and just sat on the shaving where she fell. Is there something wrong with her? Will she just stop doing it after a little while, or will this get worse? What should I do? Please help!

We had one that refused to stand the other day. I have no idea what was wrong with her, so I just made sure to go in and give her water and food(if she'd eat it), she seems to be fine now. I imagine growing and feathering takes a lot out of little chicks.

You could try giving her some vitamins and electrolytes, or molasses water, something with sugar and vitamins in it. Maybe it will help perk her up. Hope she gets better soon!
