What did you do in the garden today?

Harvested a bunch of cherry tomatoes, took a dozen to my Mother (she'll be 84 on Monday!). Also picked a very long (13 1/2 inches) cucumber! Emptied the Japanese beetle trap into the chicken coop at lock up. The attractant is pheromones, so no poisons to worry about. Chickens love them ( at least mine do!). The bush beans have small little green beans on them! The pole beans are still vine-ing, no flowers yet.

I also did not get to the garden today other than to walk by it with my 2 year old granddaughter and show her & name what is growing. She keeps calling the tomatoes "apples". :lau
Then we went to the park to celebrate my daughter's boyfriend's son 2nd birthday. Stopped and picked up my Mom as well. ( She will be 84 on Monday!)
Can you just imagine how fascinating everything is when you’re two years old?
G-babies so precious.

Good morning gardeners. I've been busy this morning. Took care of the chickens, picked a few more peas, then spring onions, a yellow squash, turnips (mostly greens) and 3 jalapenos. Watered the grass seed and potted plants in the front yard then made biscuits for breakfast and put the sourdough bread together for it's first rise. Just finished my exciting Amazon Prime Day fun and bought shampoo and a food dehydrator. Woo Hoo! It's almost 9:30 am and I think I need a nap. Not sure what is going on with the tomatoes. I think I'll dig into the dirt and see where the waterline is to determine if it's a watering issue. It's only on my Romas, hopefully it doesn't affect the fruit. I'm giving the peas another day or two, then ripping them up and sending them to the big compost pile. The humidity level has dropped off significantly so I've been baking bread to last a few weeks. I made Italian bread yesterday. I ran out of homemade bread 2 weeks ago but it's been too hot and / or humid to bake or even cook for that matter. Saturday I managed to make some brownies and pasta. Tropical Depression Barry is supposed to dump on us this Wednesday into Thursday so perhaps I won't have to water the vegetable garden this week. Have a great day everyone. Oh and BTW: I ordered a dehydrator that can be used to make beef jerky and dry other meats and fish and even eggs! Fun times. :wee

Started using our AC. It still cools off at night so open windows are lovely. I cannot believe it’s the middle of July.
It’s hot 95* today. Yesterday I had many wilted plants.
From noon till 4:00 we all go in because the heat just sucks the life right outta ya.
My Hubbard squash has blossoms. I’m still shaking my head on those ... just threw the seeds into the dirt. I only had six seeds from a squash I bought at the farmers market ... 2 years ago! Have a great day Gardeners. Be Cool
