Hi I hope you can help me!
I hatched one quail out of four eggs. I am new to this. My little guy is 2.5 days old now and very feisty. I know quail are very social. I've also ready that introducing quail to other quail later I life doesn't go well they can be aggressive to strange quail.
I live in a remote town and the few around that keep quail do not have chicks. The are a few with bantam chicks. The bantams are two weeks old - my quail is 2 days old.
I think a bantam is probably a good option size wise when no other quail are available.
My question is should is just rise the quail alone - if I choose this option what should I do to keep him somewhat socially healthy.
My other option is to introduce him to the bantam chick. Is this age difference too much? What is the optimal age to introduce quail and chickens? How should I introduce them. This batam is hen hatched while my quail has learned to feed himself from day one. I imagine the bantam will need time to make the adjustment.
What are your experiences?
Also is it normal for a 2 day old quail to chirp nonstop? Is he hungry - lonely? Or just chirpy?
