Returning Rooster to flock?

Dog and Chicken Show

Hello,
We had a rooster get rather sick about 8 moths ago. We (BYC group and I) thought it was Maerek's disease. He pulled through and he is nice and strong and awesome!
We would like to put him back outside with the rest of our group but we are afraid that he may have had something that he could give (back?) to the outdoor group. He is living on our sun porch and is very spoiled but he needs more room, etc.

Any body have some suggestions or warnings or great advice on what we should do with this handsome guy? Does he stay as a spoiled chicken or go out and meet some chicks?
Thank you!

If he has Marek's then he is going to pass it to any birds he comes in contact with. You will need to decide if the risk is worth it or not.

Good luck.

We had a roo with the same sort of possibly Mareks thing. He pulled thru, tho he walks with a limp. Several had it at the time so we figured they were all already exposed. That was a year ago and today, little Spitzhauben that he is, he is the rooster in charge of the big coop. Chased the bigger ones out. Nobody else has come down with that terrible disease. We are hoping we are breeding in a little resistance. Can't be sure, and it is taking a big risk with Mareks. Terrible thing to see happen to your chickens. Any that we order we have vaccinated, but our own hatches we are hoping have picked up some immunity. Time will tell, it is a risk.

Don't you just hate this? I have another rooster on the mend and he had the same symptoms but is slowly recovering but he is in isolation with the one who pulled through.
Gooey is our rooster and he is all piss and vinegar right now. He LOVES being in the sun room and having all the attention from the human family but I'd really like him to be out with the flock and with his own kind. LOL He's so healthy looking and strong but I sure don't want to see him wipe out the rest of the group by just being in the yard.
Maybe if we divide the yard and he can have some girls and we can see what happens...I don't know!

I'm really glad your guy is making stronger babies! Do you use an incubator for their eggs/hatching? I don't have any hens interested in brooding eggs so that isn't an option here.... Could you please let me know? I should be raising more from our flock to insure the disease is passed through to the chicks and therefore, more resistant!
Thanks again
