Experiment with Goose prosthetics

Waterfowl rescue, I hope you post updates and pics. I'd love to see more!! Which avian vet are your working with? I did a lot of research in prosthetic leg for my deformed goose, but my avian orthopedic specialist (M. Scott Echols, dvm, Dipl ABVP) has been able to perform miracles with corrective surgery.

Wow nice and great job!
Apparently im not that good at googling stuff. but my budgie lost his foot the other day due to an accident and it was cut off right below the knee

and like you im not fond of him overusing one foot so my first thought was "ill make him a new leg"
I almost know how the leg will be and how ill make it. however all the birds ive googled seem to have their new leg implanted inside the rest of the leg. Which i dont like. I want my leg to be detachable, so i can make better ones and then better ones... and just keep remaking untill yeh...

but my biggest problem right now is that i have no idea how to attach the leg so it will stick. and as far as i have googled i cant seem to be able to find much information on it :/
So at the moment im stuck. and the rest of his foot kind of looks like an "L" where the longer line would be the thigh and the shorter line would be below the knee.

At the moment his foot is still swollen but still... I cant just tape it to his foot can i ?
because hes a budgie hes not only walking on straight land hes also climbing inside his cage a lot.


I just got the idea recently that i could stitch him some kind of "clothing" that could be attached to the foot and the foot would hold on.

Sounds like velcro will be your budgies friend. All the berst as you figure this out,.
