my chicks are 17 days old and ive been noticing recently that some of their poop is strange... like not a lot of it but more frequently than i remember it being. i wouldn't call it runny but it almost seems to be the consistency of paint and smells very strongly. i dont know which chick this is coming from or if its all of them on occasion. don't get me wrong about 95% is perfectly normal i guess but just because i'm a newbie at this im a little paranoid. I have pictures if you need it but didn't want to start the thread with pictures of my chicks' poop...
(i do realize that i just started an entire thread about poop

but i'm concerned and i don't want to lose any of my babies!)
Thanks for any help in advance...

I believe if they are full of energy, eating , and drinking ok, then they are.

In the beginning to me baby chicks don't have a smell but give it a few weeks more and waapaaa PU

It kind of reminds me of that Joke Bill Cosby told many yrs ago.

Everybody was aww how cute the baby did a poopy and then ............

GOD added smell !

Some times it is the chick feed that gives the ending results as we get into summer they will drink more too which will give it a little bit of a runny look to it.

But as long as it is not every single poop I wouldn't worry a whole lot about it unless your seeing them looking weak and acting strangely.

I hope this helps.

thank you both for the advice!! i'm so new at this and i just want to make sure that my babies are healthy

and they're acting totally fine running around and eating and drinking... i have noticed that they are all drinking more than usual due to the heat i guess..and they're acting totally fine running around and eating and drinking... i have noticed that they are all drinking more than usual due to the heat i guess..

Its understandable I have been raising chicks for a while now i still worry over them.

But glad they are acting fine.

yea the summer heat will do that to them and also older chickens too .
