design for roll away nest box

That is gorgeous. Did you build it yourself or buy it ?  I would love to have nest boxes like that.

I second that emotion! I'm in the process of designing mine, and was going to start cutting lumber on Friday.

I like yours better than what I came up with; do you have plans or instructions? Dimensions?

I built this without much of a plan with scrap material so alot of it was trial and error.  I'm attaching a crude plan but you will have to refer back to the pictures and verify measurements.  The inside diminsion of each nest area is 12" wide & approx 13" deep with a 12" front opening.  After you have constructed the sides, bottom, center partition, ramps & ramp floor, attach the back  curtain board partion.  It will need to be high enough from the floor to allow eggs to roll under in.  I ordered astro turf for nest from Farm-Tex.  It is designed directional to allow eggs to roll on it if there is an incline.  I ordered 4 nest pads to use for 2 nests.  1 piece for each incline ramp and I cut the other 2 to use as the eggs tray floor and bumper.  After everything works attach your top, roost and back lid.  I then mounted the entire nest in the wall with the roost 16" from the floor.  I'm sorry that the plan isn't more complete but you should be able to adapt it to your needs   [img][/img]

I'll post the pictures again soon.  I recently built a six nest box that I'm real happy with.  If you pm me I'll forward pictures and plans for the double nest box.  I haven't drawn up plans for the six nest box but plan to do so soon.  The rollout nest is definately the way to go.  The only bedding material I use is the astroturf material nest pad.  Take them out, smack them on the edge of the fence, clean.

As promised here are some pictures of the rollout nest I have built.  For those of you who have written asking for directions and shop drawings I am attempting to get them to you.  They are on a computer in my shop and I have been having difficulty sending them.  Some of you have received them while others haven't.  I can't even seem to get a copy e-mail to this computer.  I'll try to resolve the problem as soon as possible.  Sam
