Mutliple question re housing my chicks

I never considered leaving my chicks out in the run overnight because there are fishers, weasels, coons, etc. in my area. I have full view of the run during the day.
The light I used to entice them into the coop at dusk was a regular 40 watt bulb. Once they were all in and settled I closed the run door and outened the light for the night. Having re-read my post I see that I neglected to be clear on that.
