Can I use PVC sewer pipe to build a PVC feeder (vs water pipe)?

I bought 4" pipe at the hardware store, but it's sewer pipe, not water pipe. I know PVC water pipe is made not to leach chemical nasties, so it would be safe for a chicken feeder, but what about sewer pipe? Since it's only formulated to carry waste, is it made not to leach any chemical nasties? Is it o.k. to build a chicken feeder from it, or should I take it back and get water pipe?

I realize I'm probably over thinking this, but I specialize in over thinking things....

You can get the PVC in schedule 40 or 80. That refers to the thickness (I Think). You use 40 mostly inside but can be used outside as well. IMO, Seems like the Sched 80 would be better for outside especially during the cold months. It want freeze and break.

So what you have should be fine. I plan on using it myself when I finish my coop and run.

Thank you all!

I'm all set to make my first pvc feeder then
