Hi all!

I have a small flock of chickens (6) that I started raising this summer. They have pretty much been sick since I've had them. I have a Houdan that I babied more than the others because she was the sickest. I got her at about 3-4 wks old. She would come and sit in my lap and fall asleep, or she would perch on my shoulder. After a couple of weeks of having her I had to give her 3 days of injections because she was really sick. She now can recognize a syringe and will try to bite it and pull it out of my hand if it comes near her. Well my whole flock started getting sick again. So last week I had to give them injections again. All of my other chickens were completely fine with it, but she went crazy every time I would give her an injection. Now she runs from me when she sees me. If I pick her up she starts breathing fast, starts squawking, and tries to get out of my hands.

My question is this, With a little patience and maybe treat giving do you think she will overcome her fear of me. If she never wants to perch on my shoulder again that's fine, lol, I just want her not to be so scared of me.

Another question is, How good or long is a chicken's memory? My Houdan remembered what a syringe was from when I gave her the medicine from when she was younger. I didn't know that they had that good of memory.
