What color are these cochin bantam chicks

they are a month old i think. Just bought them. What color are they? theres one boy and two girls

Those look like mille fleur / calico "project" birds.

mile fleur project cochins. They will throw mille fleur colored chicks if you ge a Mille fleur roo. Check out fancy feathers. She has a hen that looks just like yours and throws beautiful colored mille fluer chicks. She got hers from WestKnollAmy. The roo is a georgous Mille fleur and the hen looks identical to your except with a little less orange in the kneck. I "love" her birds.

thats what i was thinking,  i posted them on the mille cochin thread for more info. I want to make there color better

ohh ok. What if i breed the roo to the hens? will they get better color or produce the same? Ill look for a mille roo to breed to them. they all have orange on there necks

they look Mottled Brown Reds to me... ER/ER (Birchen gene) with recessive mottling

Calico and Mille Fleur are based on different "e" alleles... this birds have Birchen(ER/?) allele

 

 

Edit.. the younger chicks look to be wheaten based

but mottling is kind of hard to predict.. some have very few mottles and some aver overly mottled..

 

 

I like how this Mottled pair looks like, but they are based on Extended black(E/E) instead of ER
