You will also notice that the hens are missing feathers in the center of their backs. You can also do what the professionals do: candle them! Hold the eggs up to a strong light. With practice you can tell by finding the white spot on the yolk. Fertilized eggs will have a clearly defined bulls eye, unfertilized the spot will have a fuzzy look to it.Title says all. Can you candle it?
I will state outright that I am a newbie, so please excuse any newbie things I might do.
I have thirteen eggs in my incubator I put in 3 days ago. Yes, it is my first time. I have tried candling them and eleven has a bunch of spots, it seems, while two have a large black spot "swimming" in it. I guess perhaps it was too early to tell anything?
