I got a buff orpington pullet as a baby chick, and she is now a month old! i am now thinking "she" is a he because of "her" comb. I am new to the breed and any help would be appreciated!

Here she is:

Here is her comb (sorry it's blurry!):

ok, thanks. do you know how you can tell if a hens egg is fertilized by any chance?

Here's a link to a thread explaining how to tell.

I also agree that it's a very red comb for a chicken that young. I have 5 BOs. Three are 15 weeks old and the girls are JUST beginning to get red in the comb and wattles. The other two girls are 11 weeks old and have absolutely no color in their comb/wattles.

I'm no expert, but due to the color I'd lean toward roo...sorry!

Gotta say you've got a roo in the making. I have a BO roo and hen. BIG Al (formerly Alice pictured in my avatar) started reddening up about the same age. Hopefully that's not bad news. BIG Al is great to his hens at 20 weeks old.

it's fine, we were hoping for all hens, but i would say a rooster isn't a BAD idea! we can only have 1 though, the only problem is that my family is a little iffy about eating fertilized eggs.
