Hey! This is my partridge cochin, Darcy. I always assumed he was a he because he was the extra chick they sent and he feathered in very slow. But now at 12 weeks old he has no comb/wattle development while all my other roosters already have HUGE wattles/combs. So I'm wondering if I have a slow feathering pullet or a realllllyyyy slow developing rooster :p

thanks!

I'd say pullet because I have an around 6 week old chick who has a bigger comb than that haha xxx
but thats just my opinion
s/hes got gorgeous colours:))

That is a pullet, its feather pattern and small comb and wattles say so. Standard Cochins are SUPER slow to mature. When I was breeding them, my pullets usually didn't start laying until 10 or 11 months old, and a couple of my girls were over a year before I saw an egg from them. Good luck!

Oh wow! I didn't know they were that slow! Slower than my silkies!
Thanks for the input guys! I'm glad I have five roosters instead of six

My 9 week old partridge cochin cockerel, Oliver. He's a large fowl bird also. He's more maroon and his feathers shine with green tints. He feathered really slow too. Gracie, the other cochin, feathered in much faster.

Was just realizing my Polly should actually be “Roo”. And “Roo should be “Polly” 0C6C8F25-DEB3-48B0-8658-A0CB0E22345E.jpeg
