Is it normal for an Ameraucana hen to lay a dark "army/olive green" eggs?

I bought two Ameraucana's from a breeder $10 each, one white, one black. The white one turned out to be a roo, the black a hen. She took the full 6 months to lay an egg where as the rest of my chicks took 15~17 weeks and laying tiny little cute eggs. She is pure black that shines purple and green in the sun with one white toe nail. She as pretty muffs or tufts (I forget which is which) that wrap to the back of her head. She is not rumpless. I guess the lobes are red but there is a cast of black to her skin. The egg is a grayish green it's hard to explain one of the colors my eye's can't get a fix on. Also does anyone have any pics of offspring from a white and black Ameraucana parents?

Ameraucanas should lay blue eggs, but some project ameraucanas could lay green egss, but be aware Ameraucana fanciers call these project birds EE(Easter Eggers) even if they come from two accepted colored birds as long as the project bird does not conforms to accepted colors they will be treated as EE, that goes for green eggs as well

Sounds like you have an Olive Egger (OE). At some point there was probably a brown egg layer bred in to the line. Most of my OE's look like EE's or even Ameracana (I have several black OE, look just like my black Lavendar splits). By the way Ameracana are not rumpless that is the Aracauna.

So then my chicken looks like an Ameraucana but is actually a mix right, that's what your telling me. I understand the lineage behind how they came to be, and that they are NOT rump-less. I also understand that if you mix the colors between Ameraucana the Club people turn up their noise. There blood line is still all Ameraucana though. I am torn as to what to do I love my chickens and wouldn't give her back. When I called, and when I picked the birds up I was very clear about what I wanted. It was all ways about the color of the eggs for me. That the ugliest egg I have ever seen. The Breeder was a Christian woman and very nice but she lied, and at my expense.

Oh I forgot to mention I have been waiting for about three months or so for her to lay so I could breed her with her Roo who hates me and crows all **** day. I wanted dalmatian looking chickens that lay blue/green eggs.

Well, The woman may not have been aware of the genetics of egg color. You may have a hen who lays beautiful blue eggs but a roo who has some green or brown genetics behind him, (most Ameracauna do, it's a work in progress). Many people also don't understand the differance between an EE and a "REAL" Ameracauna, (Many people also don't care about the nit picking) as it is purely about type and feather color and not about egg color. To most people a chicken that lays a blue or green (sometimes pink) eggs is an Ameracauna. So chanches are she wasn't lying, just not completely informed. I happen to like my OE and am working on my F2 and F3, but I also keep my blue egg layers seperate and I have a pen of mixed blue/green layers too. We enjoy having a "Rainbow" dozen
If you are looking for a " dalmatian (Not an Ameracauna color by the way) looking chickens that lay blue/green eggs" I would suggest you look at dmrippy's SBEL (Super Blue Egg Layer), they are an Ameracauna/EE x White Leghorn (So technically an EE) so they lay a alot of blue/green eggs. I have about 15 of them in my grow pen and I can hardly wait . I have some pure bred (Marans BBS BCM and Cuckoo, JG, W/BW Am,BBS Am, Cochins, Wyndotts, Welsumers), chickens that we seperate in the spring into breeding pens for hatching eggs, but usually they all just free range together anyway. I have customers who buy those to hatch out 15 dozen at a time, no telling what color eggs they get from that . but all good layers. We love them all.
Love your girl and accept that she lays an ugly egg, that makes you love her all the more.

If you're suggesting that the male influences the colour of the egg his accompanying hen lays you're mistaken. The OP clearly has a hen that lays an olive coloured egg not a "beautiful blue egg". She would lay the same olive egg no matter wht male she was penned with.
To the OP: leg colour is often a tip off. Your hen is black which is an accepted Ameraucana colour but her legs appear to be green. They should be dark slate to black.

Also, besides the fact that this hen does indeed, have green legs (not an Ameraucana) you cannot get dalmatian looking chickens from breeding black to white. The chicken calculator comes up with all black for that cross. Genetics do not work where color 1 + color 2 = a spotted mix of those two colors. You'd want something which is a naturally piebald colored bird to get what you are looking for. Or even splash, which can look very spotted.

I was actually referring to the parent birds. The "Breeder" may have a hen who lays a beautiful blue egg but if she is bred to a roo who has green or brown genetics the progeny will lay a green or even olive colored egg.
