These are my first two Polish and they are sooooo funny, I just love them. However, I would like to give them appropriate names. They are 10 weeks old. Can someone tell me if they are hens or roosters please.

The one below is the one in question. Hope this pic helps decide if its hen or rooster. This one also has more tail feathers than the other one and they usually stick up where the other ones tail feathers do not. Don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Going to take a stab at it: The one sitting is a roo because of the finer crest feathers coming, in two weeks you should start to see reddening where his wattles would be. The one standing looks like it has "girl feathers" in its crest, and it's crest is slightly more orderly than the other one's. I'm pretty definite about the boy, a little shaky on the girl but that's my call at this point.

Hope you're ok with whatever they turn out to be.

Polish chickens are fun! Enjoy your babies.

The one on the left looks like a Rooster. The other one possible a Rooster also, the feathers in the crest looks kind of pointed. Maybe some more pictures of them showing the whole body as well would help.

Welcome to BYC! May your flock live long and prosper! Now,I agree for the one on the left, but i think the on the right is a female. My polish hen was more filled in in the crest and looked almost like a houdan when she was young and the male looked a little more thin in the crest. No science just personal observation.

looks like a pair. the left a cockerel and the right a pullet. better pics without a flash may help, pics of the face to show the combs better. i have a silver laced pullet and you can see pics of her in my polish album.

it is possible for them both to be cockerels though...repost when they reach 15 weeks of age and take a full body shot of both of them
