How to breed Quails ?

When introducing new quail, you shouldn't just throw the new one in with the old ones. It should be kept in a separate enclosure where they can see each other, for a couple of weeks. And when finally introducing them, this should preferably be done in an enclosure that is new to all of them, to avoid territorial behavior.
Also, unless you keep them in a large aviary with many hiding places, you should keep 4-7 females with a male, to avoid over breeding - two is not enough, in most cases.

When you guys say lockdown, what does it exactly mean? Does that mean that the incubator should not be opened the next three days ?

One more question, lets say I have 20 eggs in the incubator, 2 hatch, what do I do with them? take them out? no more lockdown?

Lockdown is when you remove the turner or stop turning the eggs . You also raise the humidity for hatch.

If you have chicks hatch I take them out when they are dry and fluffy. Some leave them in til the rest hatch.

It's a judgement call on your part.

But I'm kinda hands on when hatching.

Ok, but when leaving chicks inside with the unhatched ones, how do you feed/water them?

YouTuber named Slightly Rednecked leaves the hatcher closed for 3 days once the first hatches. I wouldn't wait that long, but he has great hatch rates.
