black sores on comb and wattles

I have same thing in my flock. It is fowlpox. No cure from what I hear but it runs it's course in about 4 weeks then they are immune for life like humans with chickenpox. I was told can put iodine on them ( make sure not in eyes) to dry them out. Good luck! I need some luck myself with it :( btw it is transmitted by misquotes from what I've read. :(

Hehe, ours had them when we brought them home. I figured they were just sort like freckles or moles. Wasn't till after I was reading through some other posts that I realized that's what it was. We even identified a couple of them due to where they were placed...then they went away and we didn't know who was who!

That is why I put those plastic tie thingies on mines legs :) I have only three banded , two of my three r.i. reds.ones on the left leg the other on its right and no band on the third. Then I banded one of my two buff orps. All the rest of my flock is different from the rest of their flockmates.

Yeah, we were talking about that just a couple of days ago. Of our 6, two are lighter in color and one of those is at the bottom of the pecking order so she's got a few missing feathers...those two are easy to identify. Of the 4 that are about the same color, one has a large patch of light on her throat and one has a good sized V shape of light at the back of her head. So it's primarily the other two that we can't differentiate. One of these days, we'll get around to it, LOL
