Cheap/non fancy coop?

Anyone have pics of a non-fancy(lol) coop or run? Small or large,dosent matter!I have been looking but all I can find is huge,expensive looking coops

Build your own! I shopped around and couldn't find any I liked either, so I looked at a lot of the posts on here and have started mine in the garage.
 
Thanks! I have a good size building my horse used to stay in,but it has wood floors. My brother started building pens in their but never finished. I think I will try to get him to finish it and then use my dome shaped pens for outside? Only thing is,the outdoor pens are not predator proof,and wouldnt their feet/combs freeze in winter?
 
Don't be intimidated! Look at my coop! It's thrown together from lattice and scrap wood, and the run is simply the wall of the house and the fence with the top being wire strung between the two. Can't get much cheaper than that!







The only real improvements I've made is putting in the bushes and scavenging the additional lattice for some shade for my girls.
And that did make a huge improvement in their living quarters. I also threw down 4 bags of pine chips and called it a day. The hens are happy, so what do I have to complain about?
 
If you've the space for the coop in the barn then that's as cheap as it gets. Just make half walls on the two sides opposite the barn corner then chicken wire to ceiling. You'd want a door obviously but build it with a high step or over a board placed on side you'd step over. That way the pine chip shavings or whatever you use for floor cover stays in the coop. Other than that you need a few poles or 2x2's to make roosts and scrap plywood to make stacked nesting boxes. Basically I'm envisioning two pieces of plywood for half walls, enough 2X3 studs to frame half walls 2' on center with base plate and top plate and make door and frame then chicken wire. That's a really cheap 8X8 coop.

For the run you could make a secured coop door for the chickens on side of barn and build run out from side of barn. They'd all live together excepting any new chicks your growing out or if you are breeding different breeds.

It is a pretty big coop ... it might not work in every climate ... but it is an example of thinking outside the box.

A corner of a barn would make a great chicken coop, IMO. I think if you use the deep litter method a wooden floor would be no issue. Or use scrap linoleum?
