A lot has changed...

Good Morning!
10 Years
I was paging through some old Richie Rich comic books, and paused to read an ad for hostess cupcakes disguised as a comic. I laughed to myself and then realized how much things have changed since then. Some of the stuff in that old comic book would be SO politically incorrect today--I can think of at least three.
1. The protaganist is incredibly rich. With the 99% stuff going on today, these comics would be the source of much controversy.

2. they shamelessly use advertising tactics directed toward kids.

3. They advertise junk food in the comic books.

I remember the Richie Rich kid....but I much preferred
the Archie/Jughead ones.

and of course, my hero...Casper the friendly ghost.

Spook....who use to buy comic books for a dime, 'cause
I'm a really old spook. Then they raised to 12 cents. By the
time they got to 20 cents, I had to quit reading. To rich for
my blood...

I grew up in the 60's. How would any of us kids then have ever known about Sea Monkeys if not for those deliciously enticing comic book ads.
